Corporations are incentivized by profit. They are built to return a profit to their shareholders. This innevitably means:
- The health of consumers comes after profit
- The health of our environment comes after profit
- Short term thinking is rewarded over long term planning
Governments are built to protect the people, but too often they are doing a bad job or they are too late behind a fast moving market…more often corporations have government in their pocket. They influence government leaders to make decisions that are in the interest of the corporation, not the citizens they have been elected to protect.
Consumers have little power to change corporate actions… unless banded together in a unified effort.
So, who will hold corporations accountable?
